Fusion Bonding

Fusion Bonding Services

Reliable Powder Coating brings fusion bonding services to California’s bay area.

FBE (fusion bonded epoxy) coating is a thermosetting resin applied as a powder onto a pre-heated surface. It is generally used for water, gas, and oil applications. Whether you’re interested in treating pipelines, valves, fittings, or pumps, you can rely on our skilled technicians to handle the task. This advanced procedure will ensure the proper function of your hardware for years and years to come!

The Manufacturing Process

Surface, temperature, and mil thickness tests are performed throughout our fusion bonding process to assure proper polymerization and that all specs are met. There are four main steps in the application process of FBE:
1. Surface Preparation: Abrasive blast to near white metal (SSPC-SP10).

2. Preheat: Material heated to reach optimal temperature set by manufacturer.

3. Application: FBE is applied with multiple electrostatic spray guns to create a uniform coating.

4. Curing: Material is returned to the heating process for a short period and then allowed to cool at room temperature. This completes the curing process.

The Advantages of Our Industrial Epoxy Coating

There are several major advantages when it comes to industrial fusion bonding. Fusion bonded epoxies create excellent corrosion protection and adhesion. This material is also optimized for greater chemical and abrasive resistance, which provides a longer lifespan for your investments. Other coatings can be applied on top of FBEs to improve UV protection. This process can be applied to almost any application and is even offered in multiple color options.
